The lodge is built on land leased from the Russian Orthodox Church, who had built here to serve the village of Kukak. The village was destroyed in the Novarupta 1912 eruption, which was 10 times more powerful than Mount St Helens. Staying here was a treat. Perry and Angela Mollen were wonderful hosts and with Joe made a great guide team. Darrel's cooking was superb - more than superb in fact.
