We drove through the Spillway on the way home from my Mom's house today. We spent a wonderful afternoon having a belated birthday celebration for her and letting the kids take advantage of the increased winds to fly kites on the levee. Unfortunately the steady winds are causing a lot of flooding in coastal Louisiana and local communities that border our many lakes. Here are my husband and daughter trying to get one of the kites off the ground.
