The Osprey was bird we saw the most during our 14-day stay in Yellowstone. They are territorial birds and once we spotted one, we could count on seeing them again in the same general area. We saw this bird along the Firehole River a number of times and I was lucky enough to catch him just as he was taking flight. These 'interior' Osprey seemed much larger than the ones we have seen around Vancouver Island. While I'm used to seeing them on the coast it was interesting to learn that the Osprey is one of the most widespread birds in the world and is found on all continents except Antarctica.
