The rains stopped overnight and the day dawned warm and clear. That must have been just the signal they were waiting for because Green Valley was alive with swarms of mating ants. Here is one such swarm. You can see a cloud of ants above the road, with a pile on it. In real time what was happening is this. The swarm above the road was composed of singles looking for a mate. Upon coupling, they dropped from sky to land on the road, where they did their thing. Some at least would uncouple and then fly back up into the swarm.
