4/15/08 - IR Oak

Now that new spring foliage is beginning to appear, I went to this nearby 150 year old oak to try my new IR-converted D70. Once I made the image, I decided to see how it would look with more grain as apparently was typical with IR film. Not leaving well enough alone - let's sepia tint it, too.
It was an interesting experiment which I'll try again later today. I thought the clouds would add interest and drama to the monochromatic IR - but they added confusion by obscuring the contrast between the tree and the black sky. Live & learn (but you'd think after 7+ decades most of the learning would have been done).

Gorgeous amazing tree friend you've got there Ed. Nice first choice for your newly converted d70. Looks marvelous infrared, as I'm sure it does in color too.
