4/7/08 - Tulip Magnolia

Went to the neighbors to shoot camellias and came back with this also. Just like the other day when my objective was bluebells and I got cherry blossoms that were better.
Shot with an 18-200 with a Canon 500D closeup lens attached. It's a flexible combinations as long as (1) you're not after selective focus effects that require a wider aperture than f/5.6 and (2) you're not after life size macros (I haven't measured this combo but I'm guessing 1/2 life size). Being able to zoom to compose is a plus. Unlike my Nikkor true 1:1 macro lens which will focus from its minimum distance all the way to infinity, this combo is good from roughly the same minimum distance out to between 2-3 feet maximum (if that far).

Nikon D300
1/30s f/16.0 at 95.0mm iso200 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

So beautiful Ed. Great colors. Very fragile. Vote.
