It was getting dark when Terry, owner of the lodge, said - Get in the truck, Ed. I want to show you something. We drove through rutted tire tracks in the grass to a spot about 1/4 mile away. In the grass was an upside down canoe - red with only one pointy end; it had a flat transom at the stern. Terry turned it over (right side up) and the sight was amazing (see in about two or three more slides). I'm saved - too dark to shoot anymore tonight but I'll be back at sunrise.
When I came back at 6 AM - still rain and black flies - but to a much more photogenic canoe to make uncanoe-like I started at the stern (upside down; I was saving that beautiful inside for last).
Thanks, Terry. You saved me.
