11/26/06 - Holiday Reflections

This is the "final" of yesterday's test shot (click next to see yesterday's). I waited for darkness, shot it using 2 SB-800 speedlights, got the white balance right (and cleaned up the glass surface beforehand). In yesterday's version the white boxes were off-color and the reflections were not crisp. Too much uncontrolled stray light from the windows.

This scene is supposed to look like buildings as you look down a street with the perspective of the "street" narrowing and the far "buildings" growing smaller as you look into the distance. The actual front to back distance is about 4-5 feet. The illusion is enhanced by the fact that the near red box is 10" on a side (8 high) and the far left box is a 3" cube. Next I've got to put something in the fore or mid or background (actually a miniature sleigh and reindeer crossing the top black area might be cool).
