Hemlock Springs, Skyline Drive, Shenandoah National Park.
This was mid morning. That's the sun trying to push through thick mist (actually low clouds). I had just taken a photo of a scene to the left of this and was in the process of putting my gear away when I looked over my shoulder & thought - Wow! Quick unfold the tripod and get the shot in the fleeting moment. This is the B&W version, but it's almost indistinguishable from the colored image - http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/68227904 - the strong back lighting coupled with the thick mist obscurred any color that might have been there.
Cropped the bottom to go from 3:2 to 5:4; the bottom added nothing except more dark space.
