I had just arrived at my destination in the New Hampshire lakes region and saw this - heavy mist, some surface melt on the frozen lake to give a few reflections, a few small islands, and - of course - two white birches for a frame. Although it was shot in color, it could almost pass for a black & white.

I was trying to get an extremely large depth of field - note the initials carved into the left birch. The lines in the ice are snow mobile tracks.
