Month #58 - Retrospective of Daily Photos posted from 5/04 to 12/09 (most viewers for the month)

Through the 5 years that I was shooting and posting every day, this oak tree was my subject more times than I can count. It's one of only a few sites where I've managed to make a 4-seasons version because it's less than a 1/2 mile walk away. Here's what I wrote in 2/09 when posting this image -
02/07/09 - Through the Seasons
Southern Red Oak (Quercus Falcata), 150+ years old, 60+ feet high, 100 foot diameter, trunk circumference 160+ inches. A beautiful specimen tree near Little Bull Run about a mile from the Manassas Battlefield. It started life about the same time that this ground was overrun with soldiers wearing blue & gray during two major battles of the US Civil War.
This image is posted in response to a question left with yesterday's daily-photo about whether I shot this in various seasons. I shot this tree so many times over the past five years ( 5 minutes walk from home) that it's a wonder it's still standing ;-)
