A fourteen day trip to the Galapagos Islands with Galapagos Travel, Aptos, CA (www.galapagostravel.com) included 11 days living onboard the 125 foot Tip Top IV yacht. The Galapagos travel staff, both in CA and Ecuador were outstanding, as were the entire crew of 7 on the Tip Top IV. We covered 695 nautical miles and visited 10 islands with two landings a day. On each landing we were guided by Etienne (ET) De Backer and Elizabeth (Ely) Coral De Backer, both licensed naturalists. Their knowledge and enthusiasm made this trip outstanding.
The photos are organized into galleries for each day and provide a brief description of the individual landing sites on each island.
A note to birders/ornithologists: Figuring out the IDs for many of the finches has been challenging. For those seen on Isabella (Day 6), Floreana (Day 7) and Santa Cruz (Day 8) I have just titled them as "finch 1, finch 2, ...finch 19. I would greatly appreciate any comments on ID of any of these. Any other corrections of IDs for any of the photos in this gallery would be welcome. Thank you.
