Originally Birdsboro Steel Foundry and Machine Company. This plant was constructed in
1944 to provide space for the manufacture of tanks for the military. Sherman and Patton
tanks were produced here through the Korean War. Operation ceased in 1988 after failure
to renew a contract and also a strike. There are multiple bays, some up to 1480 feet
long and 50 feet high. It was demolished for salvage as part of a redevelopment effort.
