This marker gives the history of the cemetery visible at the upper
left, the Fix-Gerber-Bitting Cemetery. Over the years, pieces have been
taken away. The first piece was taken to build the Union Canal, then a
piece to build the Pennsylvania Schuylkill Valley Railroad (later
Pennsylvania Railroad), the right-of-way on which this trail runs. Most
recently, graves were relocated to make room for the Route 422 Bypass.
