This event was put together to benefit CERF+; the Craft Emergency Relief Fund + Artists' Emergency Resources. The event was ably organized by Sandi Pierantozzi, a potter from Philadelphia, with help and support from Montgomery County Community College and Michael Connelly, Chairman of the Ceramics Department. The event took place at the college, in Blue Bell, Pennsylvania, where it enjoyed the assistance of a number of volunteers, both staff and students from the college. There were a number of vendors of clay and clay tools, as well as gorgeous work by the demonstrators available for sale.
The event raised $10,000 for CERF+, a highly successful endeavor.
The demonstration activities were projected on a large screen using live video from several cameras in the auditorium. This worked out well for the audience but the lighting and camera angles available for still photography during the demonstrations somewhat frustrated efforts by Ye Olde Photographer to produce the sort of epic tutorial series he has done at some previous demos. As such, we have put together some pages that will give some idea of what happened and what sorts of techniques the artists use, but not a step-by-step coverage. In the past, and this time, YOP has had good success in capturing a few projected slides from presentations. For whatever reason, attempting to snapshot the live video produced dreadful results and was quickly abandoned.
