We had a visit from the Artstream Nomadic Gallery and two days of discussion and demonstration by Julia Galloway, Lorna Meaden and Tara Wilson. All three are artists associated with the Artstream Nomadic Gallery, an adapted Airstream trailer from the 1960s that is set up with counters, shelves and cabinets. The gallery tours the country, stopping at major ceramics events.
All the artists demonstrated the creation of some of their functional pieces and showed a bit about their decorating techniques. Along the way they each gave PowerPoint presentations showing some retrospective of their work, their studios, and some examples of objects that have inspired their designs.
The events were live streamed to a number of places around the world. While the MCCC Science Center Auditorium works for that, Ye Olde Photographer finds harsh overhead lighting, and lack of good sight lines that don't interfere with the view from the audience makes more conventional recording of what happens a bit of an exercise in frustration. Hopefully there are a few useful tidbits here, but this is mostly an overview with a few closeups of pieces, taken during breaks, thrown in.
