Butterfly

What is it? A beautiful, heavy-winged butterfly picked and chosen by Marah as we strolled through a nursery for flowers. How could I resist the spots, the eager stare of orange eyes, the solid structure which speaks of groundedness, of dreams? Another $3.99 added to the already-high bill.

Once we got home, I had to chase down the butterfly and a goofy-eyed bee (which ended up in the cart as well) both of which were being skillfully used as weapons by Adin and Marah. See, both visions of wildlife had long metal spikes at the end. Perfect. So after much laughter and screams...I did end up beautifying the garden after all.

Jypsee - yup, the wings flap in the breeze. It's very cute! As to the lens, I'm undecided. I'm not so much of a pixel-peeper to notice the difference in sharpness due to the IS. I like the extra zoom this lens gives over the kit lens...and the weight is causing me some learning curve...so...I'm still deciding if it's worth the extra money. Perhaps I'm just not shooting pictures which take advantage of the lens?

Thank you, everyone! Would you believe the flowers we bought on Sunday are still sitting in their plastic containers? It's just THAT hot here in So. Cal. 100 today. Sweltering. All I want to do is water them and then run back inside.

I like the juxtaposition of the real and the fanciful.

I see that the butterfly has springs on its wings (I rhyme :^), and so the wings must move in the wind?? When I read your story, I had to laugh; kids are fun, funny, and crazy-making. How are you liking that new lens?

Cool butterfly ... and it doesn't try to fly away when you take its picture ...

the story is as enticing as the image. And just hear/see the children making off withtheir prized garden 'tools' for a little jousting! I have two plain butterflies, one dragonfly and a frog. =)
