Old Fashioned Boots

Vallejo Home, Sonoma, CA

In the Sonoma home/museum of General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo - who lived from 1807-1890.
They don't look that comfortable, but I bet they were stylish in their day. :)

Very typical for a refined lady of the day. I think they're actually kind of pretty.
To me, these shoes actually look more comfortable than some of the stylish shoes being worn today. If you look at the ankle and calf width in the photo, however, ladies back then were very slender. Although their feet would fit, many modern women couldn't fit their legs into these shoes. Good find.
