Back To Barafundle: a Monochrome Masterclass Guide.

Back to Barafundle ...
(.... the letters of which remarkably also make the anagram BARACK UNBOLTED: FA!)

I've included in the humour many useful tips throughout for landscape(and people) photographers; I hope they are useful to you.

The Fuji XT-1 still has, in terms of its autofocus, the manners of a young bison at table.

Mind you, if you're at a place where you can saunter at the pace of 50 years ago, you can afford to reinvest in photographic skills just like in the Old Days:
The Fuji DOES allow me the the freedom to go out, "see" and compose in monochrome: I find the best conversions for this process to be as follows(for me):

SHAUNY'S EASY 6-POINT PLAN for PERFECT FUJI XT-1 Raw conversion:

1. Take the shot properly;
2. Output at bogstandard colour default everything incl. sharpening(!) from Silkypix as tiff;
3. Mess about in Power Retouche Pro B+W and/or Mystical Tints and Tones for your monochrome base point;
OPTIONAL:(if you wish, you can add the pointless expense of Nik's, etc; but chances are you're not good enough a snapper to use the software correctly anyway, if you're investing in an arsenal of mono converters: pack it in and get an i-phone, you'll get away with having zero talent fine then!);
4. Get the dodge and burn tools in PS and use them like you did in the darkroom, having learnt what light does before you even buy a camera;
5. Make sure to remember to ruin your pic with a copyright sign, as your work is now good enough to steal!
6. Resize + dither to jpeg: seemples!!
Telling you this for nowt, so you can now do just what I've done!

Feel the lerv!!
