From Tekkiraz I went downhill for some 300 meters, crossed this river, climbed another 300, and went all the way back, 18 kilometers in all. I had expected the walk to be a bit more level, and what with all my equipment and the high temperatures I was bathing in sweat when I returned. I had indicated my intention of making this walk beforehand to some people who asked what on earth I was doing and they considered me slightly mad when they saw me upon my returned. I was most pleased with myself, once I had recovered my breath.
