Niksar street scene

view map

This is what seems to be the centre, with a large modern mosque, an old humpback bridge and as usual lots of cars to ruin the composition.

The bridge is called ‘Leylekli Köprü’ (Bridge with the Stork) because of a bricked in bas relief representing a stork that has caught a water snake. The bridge is reported to date back to Byzantine (or even Roman) time.
