Dated to the fourth century AD the sea mosaic was uncovered in the ancient city of Anavarza within the village of Dilekkaya of Kozan district of Adana. The [anel depicts numerous sea creatures, including dolphins, fishes, octopi, squid and calamari. The panel is framed with bands of straight ribbons and saw-teethed motifs on white background. Sea mosaics depicting sea creatures were quite popular in the mosaic art of the Roman period across the Mediterranean world. These mosaics cast light onto the rich variety of sea animals in the Mediterranean. Such panels adorned the feast halls, courtyards and pools of Roman houses. I combined three shots into one, light was mediocre.
