On a website I found information, which condensed reads like: "According to information contained in the Register of Bursa in the middle of the 15th century philanthropist and scholar named Pasha Chalabi built the medrese. 12 cells and a large classroom (main iwan) with a lead covered dome. A fountain dating from 1492 is mentioned.

In the madrasa personalities like Gökdereliza Ahmet Efendi (died 1652), Kayyımza Mustafa Efendi (died 1658) have taught. The medrese suffered from a fire in 1608 and was damaged by a so-called Jalal Rebellion. For a while after 1906 it served as the women's prison."

Nowadays it is well-restored and houses a cultural center, with a nice tea-house in front.
