Demircili lies along the road from Silifke to Uzuncaburç, not far from Silifke, but after considerable climbing. It is known for its necropolis and the grave houses and grave towers among it. I managed to locate only four grave houses, but they were very impressive and I have the strong feeling that with some extra searching several more ought to have been located (but I was running out of time). I may have seen a grave tower, but in the distance. As part of a trip to Uzuncaburç a visit to Demircili will be a big bonus.
Much later I found the ancient settlement to which this belonged was Imbriogon. As I am doing lots of work in the Wikipedia I quote from there: "Imbrogion was probably founded in the 2nd century AD, as a summer residence for wealthy citizens of Seleukia. Since no remains from Christian times have been found, it is assumed that it was abandoned shortly after this. Seven house and temple graves which all date to the second and third centuries AD are the main surviving structures. " I also shall restructure this gallery along the lines used in Wikimedia Commons.
