Pitcher Plants live in damp, infertile soils where nutrients are hard to obtain.
Like sundews and fairy’s-aprons, they catch insects as a source of nutrients.
They do so in pitchers, modified extensions to the leaves which contain a liquid that both kills and “digests” the insect.
