In Memoriam - Coach Michael "Mike" Feduniak


Coach Mike Feduniak was the athletic director and a physical education coach at Hialeah High School when I was a sophomore, junior and senior there in 1962 through 1965. I didn't see him again until 2008 or so when he and Coach Chuck Mrazovich, another career coach at Hialeah High, were having breakfast at a local Miami Lakes restaurant and my buddy Eric Olson and I started talking to them. Coach Mike soon became a regular at our table almost every Saturday morning for several years.

If your grandfather was Coach Mike, you were one of lucky kids. I have met very few people who were so kind and concerned about others. He taught me what I need to get my pilots license in 1971 and I could never thank him enough, every time we saw each other over the years I told him bow grateful I was. My dad was about 7 yeas older and was similar in nature so it was easy for me to call Coach a close friend, unfortunately they both pass within two months of each other. I feel bad the all my family moved north in the early 2000's and I lost contact, my sister's husband Tim was also a close friend. RIP to my favorite teacher, soar on your forever wings Coach Mike.

This was nice to see. I've never seen this clip before of my grandfather.
