Oh my gosh, This is a memory. I lived at the Skyways, in the penthouse for approximately 2 years. From 1973 to 1975. My partner sang with the Joe Boatner InkSpots in the Lounge. When the group left Florida we stayed behind no longer wanting to endure the cold winters up North. The Skyways was owned by Manny Malamud and his brother. Renovations were done to the rooms during that time. Carpeted archways and Hobart fabric on walls, along with pot lighting. It was a great time to live in Miami.
The Castaways was the place where me & my teenage friends would drive down to from Hollywood to try and meet/pick up girls. Most of the time we struck out--but we still had some great times!

This was one of the many neighboring properties acquired by Joe Hart to expand his Castaways complex on the East side of Collins Avenue (including the Santa Anita Motel, the Atlantique Motel and the Trent Hotel).
Hart also built on the West side of Collins as well... that Castaways section included the world-famous Wreck Bar.
