Sonoma County Winery would definitely not hire me to be
their product photographer. Like my previous effort, this
has hard lines between the light and dark parts of the
bottle instead of a gradient. Even worse, the lighting
shows off imperfections on the surface of the bottle.
And worst of all, the photo makes it look like the
winery puts Malbec in their Chardonnay bottles.

Photographing transparent, translucent and glossy
objects is tricky business. At this point I'll follow
the sage advice I've received and drink the wine.

If you hadn't explained it so well I would just say perfect.
You are the expert though. I hope it was nice.
The name and label are cool.

Well, you can't shoot a decoy and expect the real thing.

Nice try. Granted it isn't ad worthy, but it is a very good shot nonetheless. V

Probably the best one can do with a decoy. V

I agree photography of glass objects is most difficult. I'll drink the wine also.

You're so hard on yourself...you need a drink! :0) V
globalgadabout10-Feb-2021 02:50
yes a tough one...would a light from behind the bottle help with showing the paler colour of the Chardonnay, and soften the contrast?

At first glance, I thought this was a Merlot or something like that. I agree, drinking it might be the better choice!

I was going to say I like the warm glow. V
