21st Century Customs is the ninth book in the Car Art series and the fourth featuring images of customs. The aim here is to provide a look at what styles of custom cars people are driving and enjoying in the early 21st century whether they were just built or have been around for decades. Many are pristine, perfectly finished show cars and others are daily drivers or at least driven often.
I have tried to include as wide a variety of different vehicles, styles, levels of finish and events as possible in a book of this length. As in all my car art books, I have attempted to show these objects of their owners love and creativity artistically and as the works of art I see them as. Many of the images have been modified during post processing and were not as they looked right out of the camera. This book is a portfolio containing over 150 mostly color images. The photographs in this book were taken between 2006 and 2019 at car events in different parts of the United States.
21st Century Hot Rods is the eighth book in the Car Art series and the fourth featuring images of hot rods. The aim here is to provide a look at what styles of hot rods people are driving and enjoying in the early 21st century whether they were just built or have been around for decades. Many are pristine, perfectly finished show cars and others are daily drivers or at least driven often. Some are still driven in races and other sorts of competitions.

This book is a portfolio containing over 150 mostly color images. The photographs in this book were taken between 2008 and 2019 mostly at car events in different parts of the United States. As always, I thank all the people who let me photograph their cars and often assisted in getting therm set up. I am so grateful for the friends I've made along the way.
As a photographer, I have always been fascinated with colors and textures. I have also been intrigued by things that are old and decaying. Thus at some point, I found myself photographing things like rust, old peeling paint, rotting wood and other things that exhibit what in my eyes are beautiful interactions of color and texture. In the course of my work on car photography, and in particular photographing abandoned, junked and unrestored cars, I started taking pictures of rust and old paint in their own right with the goal of creating a collection of abstract images featuring those interactions.
This portfolio is dedicated to showing all of that beauty. The majority of the images in this book are an offshoot of my work in photographing cars, both abandoned ones found in salvage yards and other places and also at car shows where there are old cars in swap meets and even some of the cars in the shows themselves that are not finished or deliberately left with their original patina. Other sources were old train cars, old buildings, appliances, fire hydrants, industrial sites and many others. Many of these images are macro close ups of intriguing and colorful little areas found by closely looking at all of these decaying things.
The majority of the extreme close up macro shots were made possible via the use of Olympus TG-3 and TG-4 cameras using their 10 shot in camera focus stacking ability. Many of the images have had the color and contrast enhanced and sometimes altered using various editing software packages. I hope you enjoy this photographic exploration of rust and old flaking paint as much as I do.
Relics in the Wild is the seventh book in the Car Art series and the second featuring images of rusted old cars, trucks and even tractors found in salvage yards and other locals where they have been left to decay or where they are awaiting restoration. Some of them were found at swap meets and car shows, others along Route 66 where they now serve as decorations and memorabilia. This book is for everyone who loves seeing cars in all their beautiful states of decay, who loves seeing the wide variety of rust and colorful peeling paint.
I have included a wide variety of different vehicles from a bunch of different places I have had the good fortune to visit during my photographic adventures. As in all my car art books, I have attempted to show these remnants of days gone by artistically and as the works of art I see them as. Many of the images have been modified during post processing and were not as they looked right out of the camera. This book contains over 150 color and monochrome images that were taken between 2007 and 2016, the majority of them in the southwestern United States. I have included images of complete cars as well as abstracts and detail shots.
Car Art – Mostly Monochrome is the 6th book in the Car Art series. The goal for the book was to create a portfolio of artistic monochrome images of cars and trucks that I have encountered and photographed at numerous car events and other places over the years. Monochrome in this case ranges from true and classic black and white to color toned images, such as sepia to duo tones and even to images that have some parts left in color. Some were made to look old or nostalgic. Some have other artistic touches like painted effects or high contrast treatments. The book contains 136 different photos that were taken between 2006 and early 2015.

This 5th volume of the Car Art Series focuses on those cars and trucks I have photographed, mostly at custom car and hot rod events, that are either finished in primer, still have their original patina, are partly finished in bare metal or are actual rat rods. Many are not yet finished and some may never be, but their owners take them out and have fun in them as they are. They may be imperfect and a bit rusty, but I and many others, love that aspect of these old cars and trucks. Some are historic creations from the 1960’s and 1950’s that were once newly customized and freshly painted and have deteriorated as they have been driven and aged. They have their own distinctive charm and look and definitely get driven in most cases, as opposed to the pristinely finished vehicles that are often trailered to events or only driven limited amounts.
Carscapes, the 4th edition in the Car Art Series, takes a look at some of the crazy and creative things that can be done with car images. Many of the images included are the result of playful experiments with software. In other instances, they are an attempt to capture a distinct mood or feeling. Some are attempts to use manipulated car photos to create something that looks nothing like the vehicle it was created from. Others are just abstracts, automotive details or photos of vehicles processed and presented in whimsical ways. This portfolio contains 101 different Carscapes in many different styles that push the limit of automotive image making.
This book is available as both a large Collectors Edition only that is 11x13 inches or a standard size edition (8x10). Both contain 100 pages that contain 101 images, some of which are shown below and available in hard cover and soft cover. To preview or purchase either - please go to:
