Histogram is now more 'normalized'.


Step 2 — Auto Levels

Create a Level layer and select 'Auto' Levels. This will swing the colors significantly. If you have a good shot, tree leaves and clouds will appear close to White in color at this point and sky will be Orange and/or Black.

Alternativly you could use the Auto Level Function in 'Curves' which actually I like better...!

I have tried various things . I can not my red picture to change to get the effects you did .
I am on a Mac using PS cs3 extended .

i shot around 20 different settings using d100 and hoya R72. in CS2 RAW i dnt know what temperature to set. in all of the photos, if i use AUTO LEVELs i still get pink leaves and grass. (no whites or even close to whites). What's wrong with my settings? help pls!

it's me again.
this picture looks much closer to what I wrote about under one of the previous pics in this tutorial. try to play with custom WB.

Whoahhhh. I used your starting image to experiment with and yes, Auto levels really did make a huge difference. MAGIC!!!!
