21-05-05 bambi?

Despite a late night spent with my brother drinking red wine, and watching the latest trash on
satellite (the ultimate fighting championship. Similar to a car crash really, you know you
shouldn’t look, but you can’t help yourself.), I couldn’t sleep. As soon as it was light my eyes
were open. So I decided not to waste the daylight and got up.

I walked up to the post office once it was a more reasonable hour, and dispatched a parcel to one
of our pbase colleagues, before heading back with the morning papers, and breakfast. Up to this
point the only thing I had to show for my early morning was some shallow DoF shots of some
bluebells. I was just walking round the head of the duck pond when I looked down and saw the deer
grazing at the side of the pond (put the gun down Wynn!). Not sure how well it's going to come out
(I really need a bigger zoom) but if you look along the bottom third, you should see the deer
staring right at me.

I’ve seen deer a couple of times now making their way up the valley towards the pond. Despite
their timid reputation, they seem to be getting a bit braver, as they’ll now look you in the eye
for a wee while before making their way calmly on.

The rest of the day was spent with a couple of visiting relatives who were over from Australia for
a couple of weeks.

I see these fellows hoofing it through the neighborhoods in Pacific Grove. Never seem to have my camera out when I do, though. Nice catch.
