There's a big fuss today in Aberdeen. The local chief constable's attendance was requested by
the council at a licensing committee. He elected to send one of his senior policemen
instead. The committee was due to discuss an application from a local group of National Front
supporters, and wanted the police chief to consider banning the march, which is due to take place
on St Andrews Day. The council has been told they could open themselves to litigation.
Today's image was going to be about political and religious freedom, and using these freedoms
responsibly within a democracy, but I got carried away and ended up writing an essay, well it was
more of a rant really. I'll do something a bit more visually interesting tomorrow - promise.
The stained glass incidentally, was a wedding present. And was supposed to be a crude attempt at a
visual metaphor - looking at the world through rose tinted glass. Then I realised I don't write as
eloquently as Stewart L-J, and by any stretch of the imagination it's really red. So before I
became the next Boris Johnston, I thought I had better edit it. So it's gone, (hopefully along
with the National Front before long).
