Costa Rica: Ostional

Seven days documenting the arribada of November 2011. The first two days were hatchlings from the September arribada, several thousand olive ridley hatchlings were observed and photographed leaving their nests and making the 100 yard march to the sea. We protected them against their ever present nemesis, the black vulture. The remaining days were spent with the adult turtles as they began arriving to nest. It began with a few dozen still present during the early morning light, and by Friday, a thousand were present during a two hour span.
