Choices

Of course you had a choice.
Everything we do is a choice
Oatmeal or Cereal,
Highway or Side streets,
Kiss her or Keep her,
We make choices and we live with the consequences.
If someone gets hurt along the way, we ask for forgiveness.

Profound words from someone who bakes pies.
These words really resonated with me this week
I think it was the whole "we ask for forgiveness" part.
It was not a religious message. It was a spiritual one.
All of us humans are in this together,
and yet we all act as if we are the only ones here.
I have made choices along the way,
as all of us have.
Some of them, I decided well.
Others I decided poorly.
I would like to think that I am older and wiser now.
I think I am making my decisions well now (finally).
The process is much more fluid now.
It is strange that having life course decisions FORCED
upon me has made me grow and seize my life like I never have.

I now make my choices not out of fear,
but out of love for myself.

As the fire subsides, all that is left is me.
Look right into my eyes. You can see it there.
Strength. Others have taught me how to find it in myself.
I still say that I never would have chosen this course.
I would have remained true to my vow for my entire life.
Yet, now that I am on this course, I am so thankful to be on this journey.
I may not know where I’m goin, but I sure know where I been.
And down this course, lies my destiny.
