Artists Palette Panorama

Death Valley National Park, California

A three image wide panorama stitched together with PTGUI

I overheard a tour guide that was there saying that the colored patches are actually not local in origin;
they are apparently volcanic ash deposits from when Mammoth Mountain erupted eons ago (Mammoth Mountain is 160 miles away).

Nikon D2x ,Nikkor 17-35mm f/2.8D ED-IF AF-S
1/320th @ f/5.6 ISO 100 Warming Polarizer handheld full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Nature is the best painter, isn't she?

Zane, this is a brilliant photograph. Crisp, sharp, colorful! It's almost like being there (and I have been there).
