Steve Irwin tribute a hot item on ebay
You could have got it free in Tuesday’s Daily – but yesterday it was being sold for $50 on the internet.
The Sunshine Coast Daily’s special pictorial tribute to Steve Irwin, published on the first anniversary of his death this week, has become a hot seller on the online auction site eBay.
A full copy of Tuesday’s Daily, including the “Memories of Steve” glossy magazine, had received 10 bids by mid-afternoon yesterday, pushing the price to $51.
Another auction for the same items had reached $49 after 16 bids by mid-afternoon yesterday.
The Currimundi seller offered to post the items to the successful bidder to “Australia, North and South America, Europe and New Zealand”.
At least another five copies of the glossy tribute magazine alone are up for auction with prices starting at $4.99.
The Daily’s editor-in-chief, Peter Atkinson, said the Crocodile Hunter’s popularity remained undiminished – hence the frenzy for the tribute magazine.
“But I’d advise people to avoid paying huge sums on internet auctions – we still have a limited number of copies available for the price of a Daily,” he said.
Limited copies of Memories of Steve can be obtained, with any purchase of the Daily, by emailing sally.wood@scnews.com.au or calling our home delivery line on 5479 1588
