Taiyuan 太原

Taiyuan is the capital of Shanxi. I actually did not get to see much of the city. My tour only showed us two places - the Jinci Temple and Shanxi Museum.
Jinci 晉祠 is the earliest complex of ancestral temples which were built by certain emperor or royal family. It was original a sacred place for the family members to pay respect to the deceased ancestors. The temples kept expanding over the centuries and this site has become an outdoor museum.
