Honestly, Edinburgh is prettier than I thought. I was there only two days. The first morning it was drizzling all the time, but during both two afternoons, though weather was so changeable, I walked around the city by myself and enjoyed every minute of it.

I can imagine their winter can be a little bit depressing, but there's a lot to see when their days are long in the summer, whether you stroll along the Royal Mile, or the Princes Street. And it's safer than most of the big cities in the other countries. You don't have to keep turning your head watching out for someone who would attack you to snatch your purse. I had signed up for an optional tour for the second morning to see the Holyrood Palace, but unfortunately it was closed due to the Queen's visit, and it was substituted with the Rosslyn Chapel (photography not allowed inside). After this optional tour, I still walked down the Royal Mile to take a look at the palace, and like a bunch of other disappointed tourists, I took some snapshots through the gate to tell myself I was there.
