Como is a popular tourist destination because of its distinctive location. It's right by Lake Como, not far from Milan, the Alps and the border of Switzerland. I was in Como for less than 2 days, and most of the time it was raining. Had the weather been nicer, the scenery and the architecture of the magnificent lakeside mansions would have seemed even more striking and impressive.
It was interesting to learn that batteries, things that concern everyone in our daily lives, were invented by a scientist Alessandro Volta (1745-1827) who was born in Como.
