Shipbuilding Tools

I was asked to photograph the restoration of some old ships for a local magazine up in Gloucester, the quintessential New England fishing village. These tools were hanging on the side of the toolshed, and I thought they were awesome. Check out that hook!! I could tell you that it's used for hand-spearing whales, but I'd be lying... the shipbuilder told me that it's a "boat hook", for grabbing and pulling in boats to the dock.

Very nice tones. Interesting story. I hope your photos for the magazine turn out good (I'm sure they will).

Hand-spearing for Whales? Doesn't matter if it's not true, it's a great story!
Wonderful rustic photo.
