Harold W. Creech

New Freedom, PA

June 29, 1947 – November 16, 2006

You may remember this image from June, 2006 – one of my dearest friends
Harold W. Creech
was shot and killed on Thursday, 11-16-2006.

HC, today your body will be released to go home, to your beloved state of NC. Even though you lived here for the last 9 years, I know, your heart was always with your home soil. We had lots of laughs, lots of crying and lots of hoping. I will miss our weekly dinners and countless arguments about our children, politics, sports, etc.
I will not rest until I know why you were taken from us at this early age.
Thank you for the past 9 years.
Good-bye my dear sweet friend, I will miss you very much,
all my love and will catch you on the “flip side”.
Love, DL

“The man who opened fire during a meeting in a Baltimore County office was a computer technician who killed his supervisor before taking his own life, according to police and company officials. Morris Keith Lyons, who managed the help desk at BD Diagnostics Systems in Sparks, shot the company's director of information technology (HC) several times in the upper body early Thursday afternoon, police said yesterday. The victim, Harold W. Creech, had come to Lyons' second-floor office at a company facility in the Loveton Center business park.” (from the Baltimore Sunpaper)

I was shocked to hear about Harold's death. Harold was one of my best friends from our Army days at YPG in Arizona back in 1972-1973. Harold was my best man at my wedding amd we had remained in contact over the years as our lives changed and our children grew up. Harry was one of the smarest people that I ever knew and he was a gentleman in the highest definition. I will greatly miss him, and feel ashamed that I found out about his death today 27 March 2011.

I first met "The Creecher", as we called him at Ciba-Geigy, while taking evening courses at UNC-G in the early '80's. Harold was instrumental in getting my foot in the door at C-G and it was so wonderful to work with him and talk with him about most everything. Harold left C-G a year after I did to go to MD and be with all of you wonderful people. We would meet for breakfast when we could when he would come to GSO and he definitely liked what he was doing and all of you. I can't imagine what it must be like to go by his office or by Mr. Lyons' office. He was such a swell guy and we all were fortunate to have known him.

My sincerest condolences and prayers go out to you and his family.
There are so many acts in this life that we can't understand
and we can only trust a higher authority understands more than us.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

hi, i'm a retired baltimore city police lieutenant. sorry to hear about your friend. in my opinion becton-dickinson will never tell what actually happened.i think that your friend found something that his assailant was doing at work on computer that was illegal and would have gotten hiim put in jail. harold confronted, perhaps for the 2nd time about it and threatened to call the police. at that his assailant believed his world was coming to an end and ended both. an unfortunate incident, i'm sorry for your loss.

I find it very hard to say anything at times like these, but I hope in time you will be able to focus on the good times you enjoyed without so much pain. Take Care, Deborah.

You have started my day with touching me deeply. HC will be sorely missed. We will hold the memory of the basketball games, the dinners, the laughs. HC was and is when of the finest gentlemen I have ever met. I feel your loss and will there for you whenever you need to talk, cry or laugh.

Always sad when a loved one is taken from us
and we don't have the chance to say goodbye.
We can only wonder, why...

Sincere condolences and my prayers are with you Deb.
