After a series of old, dilapidated, "character-filled" jetties we come now to a brand new one, only
finished a matter of months. This is the main commercial waterfront jetty opposite Merimbula's CBD.
From here you can operate fishing vessels, cruise businesses, police launches and large pleasure
cruisers. Notice the black surface of the wharf. It is some sort of recycled polymer grid, similar
to the material we sometimes find on bridges and viewing platforms near streams and waterfalls up
here in the Blue Mountains, where conventional timber tends to rot. It looks pretty durable.
