WCS1835.jpg

As we are shortly to discover, Kurnell can certainly be described as "plaque city". There seem to be
information panels, plaques, monuments and signs EVERYWHERE. Of course it must be remembered that
what we know today as Kurnell, was the original landing place of Captain James Cook when he visited
Botany Bay in April of 1770. To the best of our knowledge, this was the first time that a European
had trod the earth of Eastern Australia. Hence nearly everything (it seems), in this part of
Greater Sydney, is named after Cook or his ship, "The Endeavour".
