A closer view of rifle range targets. The ANZAC Rifle Range is understood to be the largest rifle
range in the southern hemisphere. It is headquarters to the New South Wales Rifle Association, and
hosts the annual NSW Queen's Prize. The range is shared between various shooting associations and
clubs with the Sporting Shooters Association of Australia (SSAA) occupying the southern end of
the complex. Although the area had been used for recreational shooting since 1850, the Commonwealth
Government controlled the site from 1910 to 1986 and used it for military purposes.
