A warm sunny day at Lake Parramatta. Hunt Creek was dammed in 1856 to create a water supply for
Parramatta. Interestingly the dam wall is reputed to have been the first such structure in the world
to derive its strength from the curve of its design. Since 1909, the city outgrew this water source
and its surrounds have been used exclusively for picnic style recreation ever since. The watercourse
downstream of the wall becomes Parramatta River - the principal origin of Sydney Harbour.
