A view down the sonotube formwork that shows the protruding part of the reinforcing cage. Note also that the top of the concrete inside the sonotube perimeter is purposely left rough, and also was painted with some diluted bondcrete to aid adhesion to the upper pier section (to be poured the following morning). All concreting work done single handedly by me (shovelling, mixing with electric mixer, pouring, etc), and was I ever stiff and sore after two days of this!!!
