100x100 F17 Merbau seasoned hardwood was used for the bearers. Engineered timber (Hyspan (LVL)) H2 treated for termites was used for the joists - 90x42 for the control room and 70x45 for the main observatory. The deep joists were also blocked to prevent twist. The main observatory room is 4.5m x 3.6m and the control room is 4.5m x 1.8m.
