This image and the next were taken a couple of weeks before the previous one.
I had them filed in my earwig folder, thinking that it was a juvenile with underdeveloped forceps.
Only after I had IDed the previous one as a rove beetle did I take a closer look at this one.
Like my ID of the previous specimen as Paederinae, my ID of this one as Staphylininae is also arbitrary,
and based on comparing rather fuzzy images with some line drawings from books and Web sites.
