This is the ceiling of the balcony that runs along the second floor of the Carnegie Music Hall foyer here in Oakland. The light fixtures were installed by Westinghouse in 1907 and are designed to display a new invention at the time, the light bulb. The building was mainly lit by gas lamp and large windows plus glass roofs. There a very large chandeliers lining the foyer’s main floor that are immense and also designed to display the light bulb. I hope to be able to eventually capture some good images of this foyer and those lights.
