Tours-Visages. 1/4

Bayon (XII-XIII C.)

The French missionary Charles Bouillevaux who arrived at Angkor Thom in December 1850 and spent two days there did not see the colossal heads of the Bayon. They are then covered by jungle vegetation as are the stone giants of the access road to Angkor Thom.

a Khmer treasure, and thankfully preserved by the removal of the vegetation...at Ta Prohm is still visible how insidious the tree roots can be..
